The dress has a deep decollete, empire waist and a slight train in the back. Flows beautifully. And looks very dramatic with a late 1950s silver fox stole from Jean Patou. Small Bag, Big Statement

We love a vintage Chanel bag especially one that is unusual and rare. This small green bag has a camellia on the front. The double CC is discreetly located on the inside of the bag. The lining is a delicious, super soft green leather. The long gilt chain has a quilted pattern.

We're feeling Haute, haute, haute!

You may not need another pair of jeans but you can never go wrong with too much couture! The more you have, the merrier you feel and it is the season! Our first ensemble is a 1970s Chanel Haute Couture white astrakan ensemble. Very haute hippie with metallic threads and gilt buttons. The astrakan is very soft and cozy. Can be worn with the matching skirt or for a sexier look wear it without the skirt and a pair of high boots. Size 4.

Our next dress is an unlabeled haute couture dress from the 1970s attributed to Chanel. A sexy and slinky dress that is very glamorous with iridescent sequins hand applied and a plunging back with trailing ribbons. Size 4/6.

The Gold And The Beautiful

Just in time for the holidays we are posting a crazy, sexy, beautiful Christian Dior Haute Couture cocktail dress from the 1980s. Designed for the house by Gianfranco Ferre it is made of an extraordinary gold lace with layers of apricot and gold chiffon underneath. It is heavily embroidered with beads, sequins and metal gold thread - all that you need to make you feel like Marie Antoinette in a mini with an appropriately deep decolleté. So, you can have your cake and eat it too! Size 4 (with a larger bosom)

Forget Basic Black

This dress is from 1983, the last year that Karl Lagerfeld designed for the house of Chloe. It is a surrealistic 1940ish inspired black silk dress with a mirrored collar and arrows that are pointing to... well... they could be pointing out the great shoes that you are wearing or maybe there is a double-entendre but we just can not imagine what it could be! But if you are looking for a chic, definitely not boring black dress that will get you noticed and be a good conservation starter this is it! Size 6/8.

Bette Davis Eyes

We wanted to have a classic 80s song for the title of our new post and although we liked Der Kommissar we did not think that it set quite the right mood. You are probably wondering why Bette Davis Eyes? It is a terrible song but you may remember Bette Davis in her 80s wearing dresses by Patrick Kelly with bright red lips. Not too many octogenarians would wear such form fitting dresses but at RARE we think that dressing age appropriate means wearing what you like and what makes you feel good. If fifty is the new forty why can't 80 be the new fifty?

This black 1980s Patrick Kelly dress with a splash of multi colored buttons on the front in the shape of a large heart is the perfect choice to beat the winter blahs this holiday party season. So if you have Bette Davis eyes... Size 4/6.
