Francois Catroux in Provence

In Provence, is it the sound of the cicadas?  Is it the scent of fields of lavender?  Is it the flesh of a warm fig?  Is it a bottle of rosé moist with cold?  Or is it just a simple potted boxwood in a terra cotta pot?

I think it is all of the above and Francois Catorux's home in the Luberon that makes Provence sing like a Siren to all of our desires for what summer and summer homes should be...

It could also be the Matisse drawings flanking the bookcase...

or the Calder rug in the kitchen...

or this room with its floor imbedded with river stones meant to evoke a Moroocan rug...

It could be the bedrooms with the Indian fabric...

Or a simple chest of drawers and a drawing of Francois Catoux's wife and YSL muse, Betty Catroux...

Francois and Betty Catroux's home in Provence.  Most photos by Francois Halard in the WSJ.

I love, love, love Francois and Betty Catroux's home in Provence - it is relaxed, comfortable, an eclectic mix, a home... and you just know Betty has some amazing things in those closets : )

love and kisses,  Juliana
