Being Pretty

This is the week of Pretty at RARE vintage.  On Sunday I posted the ethereal and beautiful color blocked 1970s Galanos gown.  On Tuesday I posted those fabulous two leggy 1987 Christian Lacroix pouf dresses: one a bumble bee colored lace and silk petticoated pouf dress and the other a field of pink and red roses on a white brocade with a white petticoat, and on Thursday it was the sweet and innocent 1950s seashell pink Emilio Schuberth cocktail dress.

So I thought I would continue the theme with a romantic lace and silk gown from Valentino.  1970s Valentino Couture.  Circa 1977.

Wildly feminine.  Soft fluttering layers of lace.  And speaking of fluttering, my heart is all aflutter for this extraordinary lace.  Hand applied to the thinnest, lightest silk organza.

A pin tucked bodice.

Dress is entirely lined in an opaque black silk organza.  And simply beautiful.

It reminds of the languid women in a 1970s Debroah Turbeville photograph all style and an atmosphere of ruined glamour.
