Oscar Nominated: Arianne Phillips

Arianne Phillips has worked with Madonna for over 15 years.  Styling everything from the Music video with its urban cowgirl look

to her John Paul Gaultier geisha inspired costumes for Nothing Really Matters

She is also nominated for an Oscar for costume design for Madonna's film W.E.  And let me tell you, she nailed those costumes.  They were Perfect!

Arianne Phillips said of the above look, "This scene is in the South of France, so I wanted a really striking day dress.  This one was inspired by a lot of the photographs we had of her.  It had this beautiful organza petticoat that just made it waft and float when she walked.  We had more then 15 fittings because Andrea had so many costume changes.  We were fitting clothes until the very end."

As I am sure many of our RARE vintage blog readers know, we have, in addition to our blog and our store on 57th Street here in New York, we also have a storefront on 1stdibs.  Arianne Phillips picked some of her favorite pieces from our store on 1stdibs in a set of interviews for her red carpet choices.  Here are the videos.  Congratulations to Arianne Phillips on her second Oscar nomination! We're rooting for you!!
