Real Girl, Real Vintage in Chanel

I Love White.  I Hate White.  White.  Oh no, there is a little splash of my lunch on my white.  Ick, how did my white turn this color after I washed it?  Where did this yellow come from?

I have had less a love affair with white and more of a torrid relationship.  I say yes when I mean no and I say no when I mean yes to white.  But there white was all over the fall 2014 runways in NY, taunting me and I find myself torn between a dream of a crisp white wardrobe and the more dingy reality.

So when I acquired a pair of Chanel resin cuffs for RARE vintage, one in white with black CCs and one in black with white CCs, I thought this is a wearable white, a forever white.  Well, they did not stay long at RARE vintage (and no, not they did not find their way into my closet : ) although I seriously thought about it...

I loved seeing a similar cuff on this lovely girl during NYFW with red  nails, red lips and, gulp, a whole lot of white...  Real girl, real vintage in Chanel cuffs:

Real Girl, Real Vintage

I loved opening up the May issue of Town and Country and seeing this photo of Emilie Jean in a Geoffrey Beene gown.

Photo from Town and Country

Of course, I loved the vintage Beene (if you follow the blog, you know that we have had some amazing pieces of Geoffrey Beene at RARE vintage) but what I really loved is how she chose to wear it.  Emilie Jean is a dealer of vintage and antique ethnic jewelry and textiles and she wore a tribal necklace from her own collection with the Beene.  Very haute bohemian don't you think?!

Real Girl, Real Vintage

Vogue.com profiled Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis in its  5 Days, 5 Looks, 1 Girl and on one of the days she is wearing a 1970s Yves Saint Laurent dress with a 1980s chunky gilt chain belt interlaced with leather from Chanel.  I love the boho meets glam look.

Maybe it is because we have so much great YSL rive gauche right now at RARE and also some of those classic chunky Chanel belts that I feel so inspired by TNT.  I may even try it on one of the mannequins and I am certainly going to try it with pieces from my own collection.  I hope you are inspired too!

Real Girl, Real Vintage

If you don't have a Celine bag, you most likely probably want one.  Phoebe Philo created the must have bag the classic flap box bag from the archive.  I love the new and I love the vintage Celine bags equally - after all, a girl can't have just one bag - can we?   What a silly question!  Dar!  Sometimes we want something brand spanking new and sometimes we want a very coveted vintage piece.  Here is a real girl, in real vintage.  1970s Celine flap box bag available at RARE vintage.

Real Girl, Real Vintage

We had a few of these adorable Chanel bow cashmere sweaters awhile back and it is always fun to see vintage on real girls in real life.
