Well, I am not sure if it is revenge exactly but it is ironic that the most influential collection by Frida Giannini for Gucci was also her last.  It certainly has defined Spring's 70s vibe with suede jackets, denim skirts, Sgt Pepper jackets, sailor pants and retro 70s bags...

I Hate Socks, I Love Socks

I am the Goldilocks of socks.  They are either too tight, too scrunchy, too big, too thick, too thin...  I have some shoes too that like to eat socks until all that is left is an uncomfortable bunch around my toes.  But I have a definite little sock crush going on with Prada's spring 2015 color block socks with bands of floral inserts and Cuban heels.  They have a sexy sheerness and nerdiness to them all at the same time.

Spring 2015 Alta Moda: Dolce and Gabbana

It was one of those typically wet, foggy evenings in Milan.  A strong wind blew outside the storied La Scala, and our pretty princess, dressed in white tulle was running terribly late for the opera.  The doors of La Scala swung open just as a gust of wind swept up the evenings programs, they swirled briefly in the damp air and then landed smack all over her dress.  And voliá!  A Dolce and Gabbana alta moda dress for Spring 2015 was born!

Isn't this dress just so pretty?!  I love the embroidered tulle 'socks' slightly baggy too...

and my favorite.  A dress with embroidery inspired by the stucco on the ceiling in the alta moda dressing room.  Love the lightly exposed boning - it must swing very gently like a bell when you walk in this dress...

Spring Haute Couture 2015: Day Three

The couture continues...

Elie Saab

Truthfully, I have never been much of an Elie Saab fan.  When I think of his dresses, I think of Halle Berry and I have never been crazy for her red carpet looks - kind of bombshell but kind of boring.  But there were two feathery looks that I thought were very pretty and would love to see hanging in my closet...

I love this because it is evening gown meets Joan Collins feather trimmed peignoir in a pale nudish gold:

and this dress has a very Claudia Cardinale 60s vibe - love with the flat sandal:

Jean Paul Gaultier

It was all classic Gaultier, nothing groundbreakingly new but well done and I loved that there was a variety of models on the runway because people, women of all sizes and ages love fashion!

This was probably my favorite look. Very finely pleated, lightly exposed corseting underneath and then exposed boning of a very beautiful crinoline ending in fringe:

What can I say?  Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have been knocking it out of the park every collection they have shown for Valentino.  They are not just good, they are great.  My favorite looks:

Armani Privé

Armani Privé made me feel like a giant panda out for lunch.  Let's munch on some bamboo...

I loved the vaguely Japanese designer aesthetic - very ethereal and beautiful...

and these sheer pants are pretty and gorgeous with a beaded top - old school glamour but modern too.
