Spring Haute Couture 2015 - Day One and Day Two

Today may be a snow day in New York but the forecast in Paris is Spring mixed with a little haute couture.

Alexis Mabille

Was GORGEOUS!  Every single actress nominated or presenting at the Oscars should wear Alexis Mabille.

and I may not be going to the Oscars but if I were I would wear this - no one would get it but I would love it : )

Giambattista Valli

Pretty is, as pretty does and, honey, Valli is in a world of pretty.

Me so pretty and I want this:

super chic:

and just super pretty:

Christian Dior:

Really gorgeous, modern, rich...

I do not know where this could be worn in real life but the runway is a 'show' and this makes for a great show:

Will Jennifer Lawrence wear this on a red carpet : )

Love this white with the shiny blue boots:

How ahhh-mazing are these boots and if you are going to buy them, you might as well go all of the way and buy the beaded ones...

and Schiaparelli.  No name designer.  But still glimpses of wonderfulness.  My kind of wonderful:

Shockingly Short: Marco Zanini Out at Schiaparelli

Well, truthfully, I don't know if it is so shocking that Marco Zanini is out at maison Schiaparelli but I am a little sad that he was not given more time to awaken a sleeping beauty.  Schiaparelli had slumbered for nearly 59 years  before Zanini showed his debut collection for the house and it has to be expected that it would take a little time and perhaps a few espressos before the house was up and running and finding its way in a new century.  But in this new century, everything is now!  Right now!

I think given a little time, Zanini could have been a good fit - there was perhaps too much nostalgia for the 'hard chic' of Elsa Schiaparelli's 1930s but there were also some beautiful moments that showed promise...

a few of my favorites - I loved the accessories...

Spring 2014:

Best dress - there should have been more like this (the price points were very expensive - even for couture).   It looks modern, fresh and yet still within the codes of the house and soooo fabulous - love the cuffs on each arm, the pockets, the flip flops...

Fall 2014:

I absolutely loved this rat infested gown and the cropped 'monkey fur style' bolero:

Haute couture is for dreamers, fast fashion is for realists and the twain should never meet.  The fashion world needs a place for dreamers to dream and I am dreaming of rats on silk and a gilded ring in the shape of a Venus the fly trap...

Schiaparelli Fall 2014 Couture: That Rat!

If money were no object, I know EXACTLY what I would wear to next year's Met Gala: Look 16 from Marco Zanini for Schiaparelli

It is amusing and different and a nice nod to Elsa Schiaparelli with the monkey fur bolero and the rats and squirrels gown.

I thought the whole collection was moving in a good direction and there were some beautiful pieces, like this black beaded dress (minus the fur)

and this sweater is amazing

these greens are pretty fab and especially with the leopard booties, the fur sleeves might be a tad too, too...

for a serious femme fatale moment and I love the hat!

and I kind of love these two gowns too and the crocheted beanie/snood is super wearable

love, kisses and Zanini is looking good, Juliana
