About Gianni Versace: Gianni Versace was known for his exuberant prints derived from classical motifs, bright colors and the blatant sexuality of his clothes. He also embraced pop culture with a glittering celebrity attendance at his fashion shows, created the cult of the supermodel and lived like a rock star in his Versace branded homes in Lake Como, Milan, New York and Miami. He started his career designing for Genny, Callaghan and Complice while simultaneously starting his own eponymous line. He chose Medusa as the house logo and incorporated it into many of his designs. His designs for his own label referenced historical dress, wild animal prints, gilded and slashed punk/couture, combined incongruous materials like leather and lace and metal mesh and silk.
