About Tom Ford: Tom Ford was named creative director of Gucci in 1994 and he became the superstar designer of the 1990s. He revamped a sleepy label that had once been the chic jet-set label of the 1970s and made it after his own image of 70s sexiness and glamour. Under Tom Ford, Gucci became the most desired and coveted label of the 1990s. Madonna wore his blue satin shirt unbuttoned with deep blue velvet hip hugging pants to the MTV Awards and when asked on camera what she was wearing replied "Gucci, Gucci, Gucci". His red velvet tuxedo suit was worn by Gwyenth Paltrow in 1996 and Jennifer Lopez wore a sparkling plunging dress from 2000 to the VHI/Vogue Fashion Awards. Ford went on to become the creative director for Yves Saint Laurent in 1999 but after a tumultuous few years with his bosses at PPR, he resigned from both Gucci and YSL. He went on to direct and write the screenplay for the Oscar winning film A Single Man and in 2007 he opened his first store on Madison Avenue which now sells mens and women's collections.
