Kawaii! Tiny Judith Leiber Bags

Kawaii!! is the word for cute in Japan.  So, when I saw these two teeny weeny Judith Leiber black lizard bags, I said, "Kon Ni chi Wa, Kawaii!"

Of course, they are not Hello Kitty cute but they are elegant cute.  Sort of sweet.  Like a tiny little puppy that makes you go, awww...

Gorgeous in shiny black lizard.  Our first bag has gold hardware and a gold and lizard handle.  There are three interior pockets, a wittle, oops, I mean little mirror and a little lizard coin purse.  You can keep a little lipstick, a little phone and a little money, what more could you want?!

Our second little Leiber is also black lizard but this one has two little finely beaded handles.

Also has three interior pockets: it may be little but you can be mighty organized in that interior!

Beanie Baby

What is black and blue and Swarovski crystal-ed all over?
A beanie baby!

Of course our Judith Leiber beanie is quite the glamorous baby.  It is sparkly, happy and in a very beautiful organic bean shape (which feels really nice in your hand I might add).

Bird is the Word or aka 'The Dude'

Well, don't you know about the bird?
Well, everybody knows that the bird is the word!

Surfin' Bird by the Trashmen

I don't know if our Judith Leiber Austrian crystal encrusted swan minaudiere is a surfin' bird but it is definitely cool enough to be one.  Cool is not usually the word I would choose to use to describe a Leiber bag but this little dude is cool and funky.  Take him to a beach shack for some steamed clams and a lobster roll in a flirty little summer flock or take him for a swan's night out at the opera in something grand like our incredible Gianfranco Ferre gown.

 Anatomy of a bird:

Okay,  I have to ask: what IS this little teeny tiny Judith Leiber comb for?  Someone's mustache?
A-well-a everybody's heard about the bird
Bird, bird, bird, b-bird's the word

Leiber in Love

Sometimes I think that I could be perfectly happy with just one bag - NOT!  I change my bag all of the time.  It is impossible to have one bag that goes with everything and a little accessory can make a big impact.

Here are three evening bags from Judith Leiber.  You could definitely wear any of them for a black tie event or to add a little glamour to your jeans for going out to dinner.

Our first is a sandstone colored python bag with a Bulgari-esque silver and gold link detail closure.  Comes with its Judith Leiber mirror, comb and a coin purse.  There is a thin strap tucked into the purse.  Please note there is a some very slight discoloration to the bag.

Our second is a black silk bag with metallic gold thread embroidered thread.  The hard handle is inset with bone.  This bag also comes with its compact and a black silk coin purse.

Our third is a jeweled silver leather sided clutch with an incredible jeweled swan on the side that also functions as the clasp.  This is the piece that you will want to use again and again because it is brilliantly simple, glossy and glamorous with just the right amount of whimsy added by the swan. Comes with a tiny silver leather coin purse.

Say No to the Big Schlep!

I will be brutally honest here:  I schlep around a lot.  What is inside my 1980s Maxi 2.55 Chanel bag?  Well, chances are if you need something, I most likely have it because my bag is like Snoopy's dog house.   I am not necessarily proud of this but that is the way it is.  The only way I could say no to the big schlep would be to perform a 'gastric bypass' on my purse and then I would be forced not to carry too much.  (Although you may be surprised by just how much you can carry in a small bag with a little strategic planning.  Trust me, I say this from experience!)

So here is to my fantasy life of the idealized bag brought to you by Judith Leiber and RARE vintage: it is just the right size, you can actually see the bottom of your bag and you will not be charged an overweight baggage fee on your purse.

The first is a flawlessly crafted Judith Leiber bag from the late 1960s/early 1970s. Smooth calfskin leather with faux gilt straps. Very elegant and lady like.

Our second Judith Leiber is a graphically shaped, flawlessly handcrafted and beaded Judith Leiber bag from the 1980s. Comes with original tiny tassled comb and mirror in protective dust bag.
