This is What Happens When You run Into The Very Fabulous Anna Dello Russo

You leave Corso Como with an apple on your head.

On my way to Corso Como I bumped into the very fabulous Anna Dello Russo.  First I noticed the mesmerizing bright orange pony hair Celine slippers and then the big orange sherbet colored Celine bag, then the pale pink pants and then the green nail polish and I thought wait a minute, this is no mere fashionista, this is the legendary, Fear No Fashion Icon Anna Dello Russo with her dog, Cucciolina!

I was obviously feeling very inspired as I left Corso Como with a tiny little hat with a beautiful nude colored little veil and a bright, shiny, red apple on top.  When am I going to wear it?   Don't ask but I know it will bring a smile and probably a few snickers (insert husband and my children snickering here - though actually think my daughter will adore it and she will probably wear it before I do!)  So thank you Anna Dello Russo for the fearless fashion inspiration!

Made in Italy Part Two

Last time I was in Venice and I was briefly lost - you always end up lost at some point in Venice - though never very long: just when you think it is hopeless you realize: oh dar!  I was right behind Piazza San Marco the whole time!  Anyway on one of these 'lost wanderings' I happened upon a tiny little store, super chic, Chiarastella Cattana,  with the most beautiful textiles in the most beautiful colors.

So on my very short visit to Venice this time I went in to order bed linens.  Unfortunately, because I have a Weimaraner who is the size of a small pony and loves to sneak on the bed in the middle of the night, I could not order the linen and had to go with cotton.  But I am just as happy with the cotton and everything is done custom.  Chiarastella and I worked on the design together - I really would have preferred one of the more scrolling but simple designs which are so beautiful - classic and modern - but because of my little pony, it is not possible in cotton.   The textile is all made by hand on three-meter looms woven in the Veneto.

The one I could not quite have : (

And I bought THE most beautiful kimono in a silk all done by hand!   I was a little nervous to ask the price on this beauty but it was only 250 euros so I quickly snapped it up.  Plus two lavender filled embroidered linen pillows.  Lavendar scented Heaven!

Merry Christmas from RARE vintage Bazaar Dec 1968

A very Merry Christmas from RARE vintage and from the pages of the December 1968 Harper's Bazaar!!

I have been a lucky man.  To feel the intimacy of brothers is a marvelous thing.  To feel the love of people whom we love is a fire that feeds our life.  But to feel the affection that comes across from those whom we do not know, who are watching over our dream and solitude, over our dangers and weaknesses - that is something still greater and more beautiful because it widens our boundaries of our being, and unites all living things.  PABLO NERUDA

Water

I know the posting has slowed to a trickle on our RARE vintage blog but I have been super busy acquiring new pieces for RARE vintage basically non stop (which I will start sharing with you tomorrow) and I have started a new workout regime.  Okay, so let's explore the word 'regime'.   I've started a new 'workout regime' which means I am kind of following a plan of action - otherwise known as an authoritarian mode of rule or government.  Sounds kind of frightening doesn't it??  But much to my surprise I am loving my new regime.  I started spinning at Soul Cycle.  The music is awesome, the room is dark so you don't have to worry how you look or that  if you pass out, hopefully, no one will notice.  I saw a very famous actor there much to my horror - but thankfully the room is dark so above mentioned cute actor won't see the sweat dripping off my nose or if I do in fact pass out.  The music is loud enough that I am pretty sure no one will hear the thud when I fall off the bike (of course, I have not yet mastered exactly how to take the spinning shoes out of the pedals which you are LOCKED into - so if I do in fact pass out and fall off the bike my feet will, pathetically, be stuck to the pedals).

But you know what, even though I have sweated more then I ever have in MY ENTIRE LIFE and I have done things that I had no idea you could possibly do on a stationary bike, I feel great!  I feel amazing!  I feel like I must be burning at least 1,000,000 calories (minimum) each class that I take.

This is exactly what I feel like after 45 minutes at Soul Cycle:

Just a happy puddle of water.  Though I still have not figured out how to get my spinning shoes out of the pedals, hopefully above mentioned famous actor won't notice my struggle and that I have to leave the cycling shoes behind in the peddles which is really embarrassing.

UPDATE: I managed to get one shoe free today!
